From New York Times bestselling author Erin Kellison, Gold Like the Sun is the second book in the exciting and passionate adventures of the Sol sisters.

It's the wedding of the millennium! Princess Pilar Sol and Hakan Frust are celebrating their union with sector fetes full of celebrity and pomp. Theirs is an arranged marriage to preserve the vital commerce of the Nyer Transit Hub, and yet Pilar is madly, unreservedly, passionately in love. She has all the excitement she has long dreamed of--and a little more than she bargained for when she discovers that Hakan's grasping family wants her dead.

Hakan has done everything in his power to save his inheritance--the bustling but impoverished Hub--including marrying a wealthy princess for her dowry. His heart isn't supposed to be part of the deal, but Pilar has all the beauty and joy his life lacks. When Hakan runs afoul of his uncle's associates--criminal in nature, violent in approach--he refuses to risk Pilar, not for money, not even for his life.

But Pilar is not so easily cast aside, and negotiations turn into a gamble with the future of the sector in the balance. Hakan is about to learn about the high stakes his bride will hazard, as he now has far more to lose--and win--than he ever believed possible a future brighter than gold.

Gold Like the Sun Sol Series 2 eBook Erin Kellison

A black void was sucking her down into a nothingness far deeper than sleep.
Her throat was parched, closing. She grabbed for one of his arms to hold her, to stop her fall, and he brought her close, her head on his chest. His heart boomed under her ear.
"Save me." Her vision was dimming.
"I am," he answered.

GOLD LIKE THE SUN by Erin Kellison is the second installment in the author's ingenious Sol sci-fi series. This book features the story of Pilar and Hakan. Pilar is the sister of Mica from the first book. She and Hakan had married on Sol in a grand royal celebration and, as the story opens, have now traveled to Hakan's world to celebrate their nuptials there.

But... she's not greeted with open arms there - instead, she's met with an attempt on her life. This tale is as exciting, if not more so, than the first book. Pilar, who had seemed a bit flighty in the first book, shows what she's made of herein - and, believe me, it's not fluff. This is a tale you will want to read in one sitting.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this clever read:

Hakan cursed his plan. What had he done bringing that sweet girl here? She was as delicate as she was beautiful. Her life on Sol had not exposed her to the kind of danger present in the Hub. He'd thought her name would protect her, a great family that could trace its line back to the first convoys from Earth. Her wealth, too, which could command anyone's respect. But the Hub was in the deepest black of space, where starlight was a distant glitter.
Nothing could protect her here.
---
Hakan ducked his head inside. "You decent?"
Pilar couldn't contain her smile. "Give me a second and I won't be."
---
"I could use some seducing," he said. "I've had a bad couple of days."
A flash of irritation. "You drugged me and threw me on a bird for Sol."
"Good point." Hakan drew her closer. "I'll do the seducing."

GOLD LIKE THE SUN is a novella but it doesn't feel like it with lots of depth and spice to the story. I highly recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys imaginative, fast-paced, action-packed romances! It's genuinely out of this world!

Gold Like the Sun Sol Series 2 eBook Erin Kellison Reviews

This story is the 2nd in the Sol series. It takes place immediately following the first in the series, All that Glitters. I would recommend that you read these in series order because, as much as they can be read stand-alone, it may be a bit confusing for readers not to have the background from the previous book.

It is a short, action-packed, space opera that begins with a bang. That action is non-stop, almost literally, which makes it an enjoyable read. There is some romance but just enough that it breaks up the tension without being too erotic. I'm all for a good love scene, but some authors overdo that aspect, this one does not.

The story begins immediately after the hero, Hakan, takes his cousin, Barton, to task over his attitude regarding Pilar, our heroine - who is dealing with the fallout of that attitude.

When Pilar is publicly presented to Hakan's family & community at large her actions create major difficulties that drive the remainder of this story. From here on Hakan & Pilar must overcome some major obstacles, not only regarding their relationship, but also including the far-reaching consequences created in Hakan's world when they married. Theirs is a marriage of convenience that has developed into a deep love for each other, & both characters are willing to do what they must to save the other. Problems arise when Hakan underestimates the strength of Pilar's conviction & skills, but he learns fairly quickly what she's been hiding from him.

The story, in it's entirety, is a fun, fast-paced romp with enough intimacy to engage your heart.

The only problems I saw were...
The text requires some sort of page break or delineation to show the reader that the story has changed venue. I was confused several times when there was a jump from place to place, or time to time with the characters moving about Hakan's city. I'd had to go back & re-read the previous paragraph to realize that the writer had skipped forward in time a few hours or moved the characters to a different place. This may have been a formatting issue upon publication.

It's supposed to be a quick read, & it is. Because of that it is very rushed. If this had been fleshed out it would have made the climax & resolution of the story much more enjoyable & believable as well.

The H/h talked with their eyes, A LOT. Meaning that they shared most of their feelings & thoughts via eye contact & nothing else. A few more heartfelt conversations would have mitigated that & made the characters more 'real' to the readers.

The terminology/vocabulary of their worlds could have been explained more clearly. Most of the time the reader can figure out what the author was trying to say but a few times I just had to gloss over the fact I was uncertain of what was being said. Descriptions would have helped, or a characters clarification would have covered it.

Overall, this was fun read & I look forward to the next in her series.
